How the filtration system works

The pump draws water from the pool, sends it through the filter and returns it. A sand or cartridge filter catches visible debris, while chemical balance controls unseen microorganisms. Pump capacity should match pool volume. An undersized system cannot circulate the water; an oversized one wastes energy. The equipment room should have no leaks, strong vibration or unusual noise.

Weekly care checklist

• Test pH and sanitiser levels, then adjust based on the result.
• Clear skimmer baskets and the water surface of leaves, insects and debris.
• Clean the floor and walls, paying attention to slippery or green areas.
• Check filter pressure; if it rises, backwash or clean the filter.
• Monitor water level; if it drops sharply, distinguish evaporation from a leak.

The main factors are pool size, pump runtime, water heating and whether a cover is used. A variable-speed pump can reduce consumption when programmed correctly. A cover reduces evaporation and heat loss while keeping debris out. Cost depends not only on equipment brand, but also on how the system is designed and operated.

Winter mode and seasonal preparation

Completely draining a pool for winter is not always correct. Draining without considering groundwater and construction type can put pressure on the shell. If use stops, balance the water, protect lines, clean equipment and install a suitable cover. The winterisation method should be set with a service specialist according to pool material and system.

Safety for families and children

Non-slip paving, visible depth markers, night lighting and controlled access around the pool are core safety elements. For a family with children, a cover or barrier is a particular advantage. Electrical equipment must be correctly separated from wet zones and protected. During a viewing, assess not only appearance but also how the pool will be used.
